for the introduction to my media product i have decided that one of the places i may look for inspiration is the show the walking dead... throughout the start of the show the filmmakers of the walking dead combine cinematic, erie, empty shots with their opening credits and titles.
- Screen shot showing example
one of the main things i like about how they do these shots is the simplicity of them, the only thing they are doing is either a panning shot, a track dolly shot, or a time lapse, yet the way they have set the scene for their shot and the way they have edited each one has an outcome of something that can really give off a dark theme relating to its genre.
i would like to take inspiration from this and have it in my media product by potentially having panning shots or time lapse shots at night that will allow the start of my film to give off the filming that i am trying to create throughout the film itself, just so people can automatically assume the genre it is which is a horror/thriller.
some of the main obstacles i may come to when trying to recreate the shots taken as inspiration from the walking dead is the scene itself, the walking dead is a very successful and high budget series so they can afford to rent out large areas and set the scene for a deserted apocalyptic world, where as i may not be able to do that. now although my story is quite a bit different to the walking dead in that the fear or villain is unknown i would still like to try and use similar shots as i think in the right circumstances, certain shots if composed correctly can really give the edgy, dark gripping feel i am looking for.
