The number of thriller films released in 2013 was 41 which
is 6.3% of all films that were made that year. This means that they are not the
most commonly made genres which can in fact mean they are more appreciated. The
most popular thriller film of 2013 was shadow dancer and did not make much
money at all. Action / thriller the dark knight was a very successful and
highly rated film however the majority of people that went to see it were males
(64%) and only 36% of women watched it. The age range that will be the group I aim
at will be 15-24 year olds because thrillers were mostly successful around
their age groups.
They managed to make 29.8 million from the box office
altogether however this is not much compared to genres such as animation and
action, animation making 142 million and action making 328 million. I think
this is mainly because both of those genres appeal to more audiences rather
than thrillers as quite a lot of people are scared of them.
