existing media product - unfriended
a film that gave me quite a lot of inspiration when thinking of the plot for this film was the new hit trailer for 'unfriended' which has actually gone viral and continues to grow increasingly popular by the day. it is a story of technology and how it can be manipulated to go against people and show people just how unsafe they really are.
I think the thing that scares people most about this trailer is the fact of how relatable it is, in a lot of classic horror movies it seems as though you could tell what was going to happen before it had really even happened, and this meant that throughout recent times, horror films have become somewhat predictable, however unfriended plays on how tech savvy its audiences now are and how open we are to technology so cleverly they made the plot of the film about something we all do so that audiences had something to relate to making the film as a whole a lot scarier it seems.
I am not going to copy the story line of unfriended however i do think that it would be a good idea to have some kind of technology that we all use in the film to make that audience think about the film even after they have watched it. whether it be facetiming a friend, something to do with a user on a certain website or perhaps how private the web actually is? I feel as though with the right resources horror films could be took to another level if we played around the concept of the modern world and technology rather than monsters.

REDO - Intro Ideas
for the introduction to my media product i have decided that one of the places i may look for inspiration is the show the walking dead... throughout the start of the show the filmmakers of the walking dead combine cinematic, erie, empty shots with their opening credits and titles.
- Screen shot showing example
one of the main things i like about how they do these shots is the simplicity of them, the only thing they are doing is either a panning shot, a track dolly shot, or a time lapse, yet the way they have set the scene for their shot and the way they have edited each one has an outcome of something that can really give off a dark theme relating to its genre.
i would like to take inspiration from this and have it in my media product by potentially having panning shots or time lapse shots at night that will allow the start of my film to give off the filming that i am trying to create throughout the film itself, just so people can automatically assume the genre it is which is a horror/thriller.
some of the main obstacles i may come to when trying to recreate the shots taken as inspiration from the walking dead is the scene itself, the walking dead is a very successful and high budget series so they can afford to rent out large areas and set the scene for a deserted apocalyptic world, where as i may not be able to do that. now although my story is quite a bit different to the walking dead in that the fear or villain is unknown i would still like to try and use similar shots as i think in the right circumstances, certain shots if composed correctly can really give the edgy, dark gripping feel i am looking for.

Our Risk Assessment
Hazards:
· Slips and Trips
· Fall down the stairs
Who might be harmed and how?
· Actors and crew may be injured if they trip over objects or slip on spillages
· Actors and crew might fall down stairs as filmng is in low key lighting – may not see where they are going
What to do to manage the risk?
· Be careful with spillages and keep wires and objects out of the way to reduce the risk of tripping over.
· Have a handrail on the stairs, or use a extra light so you can see where your going.
Why Plan For A Film
Avoiding problems:
By planning you will not run into any unexpected errors
within the process of making your film so everything will flow a lot smoother
and quicker as you will not have to focus on resolving any problems.
Knowing your shots:
It means that you will know what positions you will have to
get into to film certain shots so that you are not thinking what would be the
best shot at the time and potentially disagreeing resulting in wasting time.
Budget:
As well as planning your time you could also be planning
your money as you may find that you could run over your budget but planning
ahead could mean that you avoid the situation.
Casting:
Give each person their role ahead of the day of filming so
that they are prepared for what role they are playing, getting all their lines
learnt and being able to act on the day.
Common needs:
Is there a toilet available? Will you be able to get lunch?
Make sure you have everyone’s needs looked to.

Genre Research
They managed to make 29.8 million from the box office
altogether however this is not much compared to genres such as animation and
action, animation making 142 million and action making 328 million. I think
this is mainly because both of those genres appeal to more audiences rather
than thrillers as quite a lot of people are scared of them.
Production Schedule
The definition of a production schedule is the timetable for the use of resources and processes required by a business to produce or provide services. A typical business will change it’s production schedule in response to what customers want, to accommodate resource charges, to reduce costs and to increase the overall efficiency.
It is mainly big businesses, companies or factories that use production schedules. They include:
· Process change-over reduction,
· Inventory reduction, levelling,
· Reduced scheduling effort,
· Increased production efficiency
· Labour load levelling,
· Accurate delivery date quotes,
· Real time information.
It is not just big businesses that use production scheduling, in the film industry, production scheduling is extremely important. This doesn’t just include creating schedules but also reading, interpreting and following various scheduling devices, boards and memo’s. The directors and their assistants normally create these but the production manager and coordinator are in charge if making sure the scheduling is feasible so they must be knowledgeable and updated within the practices of the film industry.

What Is A Risk Assessment
If an incident should occur on set of making your film that
leaves someone that you have working for you injured mentally or physically it
can mean that you could personally be fined or even potentially go to prison
because of it! Where as if you have a risk assessment in means that you have
taken into consideration everything that could go wrong and write up how you
would plan to resolve them so that no one got injured.
A risk assessment is a process of evaluating the potential risks that may be involved in a projected activity or undertaking. It’s a big step in protecting workers and business as well as following the law. For most, this means simple, cheap and effective measures to ensure your workforce is protected. Risk assessment in the film industry complies with their legal duties to eliminate or reduce risk from their work. These include:

Although I asked mainly males in my questionnaire it seemed to me that overall people enjoy thrillers and horror films, this is a good thing because that's the kind of film I am going to be doing, however I think the reason I got those answers was because of the age range I asked, I barely asked any of the older age range meaning that my results could of been different if I did but all this means is that I know that my target audience is 16 to 19 year old's. from this I can see that going to watch films at the cinema is very popular, meaning that if a film like this was ever to be produced I would have to make it cinema worthy. although the majority of people i asked said that the actors influence them to watch the film, I do not have access to any famous actors but usually if the trailer is very good it can still make people want to watch the film, as many cheap films that do not star big names can go viral just because of how they look, take unfriended for example. there were no big actors in the trailer of this film however because of the content of the trailer, it went viral leading to many people awaiting the release date so that they could go and watch the full length film for themselves.
